A Portion of an Apartment Building Collapses in Russia
And Russians are outraged that Ukrainians are shooting at civilian targets.
As much as this tragic scene above resembles one of the many we have seen over the past two years in Ukraine, it actually happens to be a destroyed apartment building in Belgorod, Russia. Russia claims that the fragments of a missile that was shot down caused the damage. In the video, it seems like a missile landed just in front of the building, causing the collapse.
That’s really just semantics. A missile fired during wartime, whether on purpose or not, caused this damage, resulting in the deaths of 13 people so far. It was sad watching the bodies of people who, just moments before the blast, were drinking tea and going about their daily regimes. As unfortunate as it is to see innocent people become collateral damage, what immediately came to my mind was: Welcome the real war, Russia. The war that most Russians have managed to escape again reached across the border with Ukraine and slapped the slumbering Russians awake.
But then, it dawned on me Ukraine didn’t do this. This building was blown up by Russia to make Ukraine look bad. t was a false flag, as MAGidiots like to say, and it was done to give Russia an excuse to launch its new offensive across the border in the North. So, dear Russians, whine as much as you like, but this destruction was done by your military.
Of course not
Of course, I don’t believe that the Russian military did this. I am just reacting to the outrage being expressed by Russians all over the country. “See, the Ukrainians target civilians. We don’t!” Russian women in my wife’s “St. Petersburg North mom’s chat” have been raging for days now over this latest attack on Belgorod. “They are animals and deserve what they get,” one woman wrote about the Ukrainians.
My wife remains quiet and just shares with me the most ridiculous comments. They send about 1000 messages a day on dozens of topics mainly relating to their kids. On occasion, there are political flare-ups.
Another woman mentioned that Russia has been hitting Ukrainian apartment buildings for two years and asked why no one was angry about that. She was attacked and threatened. “Don’t think none of us moms can’t report you!” Another wrote, “None of that is true. The Ukrainians regularly blow up their own buildings and theaters with kids to unite the world against Russia. No one trusts them anymore even the West now knows their games.”
Russians are outraged over the insolence and inhumanity of the Ukrainians. Can you imagine? My wife and I sat last night reading some comments and couldn’t believe the lunacy. She was so embarrassed at how stupid her fellow countrymen had become.
You may think that what I am writing simply couldn’t be, right? It is. While Russia hasn’t gone as far as China yet in terms of building a great virtual firewall that seals it off from unaligned opinions and truths, it has succeeded quite effectively in re-educating the masses in a very short time. The ease at which the Kremlin has accomplished speaks to how poor Russia’s educational system is.
Sure, they excel in mathematics and programming, but the hyper-politicization of everything else prevents the vast majority from ever learning to think critically. Russians are wise about things that can never be politicized because becoming experts in those fields is safe. Their intellectual capacity is severely limited in everything else: history, sociology, psychology, etc.
Welcome to your war, Russia. All of this is yours. I hope you like it.
Honest, critical thinking is the key to a healthy society.
