Another Day, Another Tale of 'You Just Can't Make This S*** Up'
Trump salutes Saudi military officers complicit in the 9/11 attacks.
Donald Trump has great respect for the military. Some soldiers, however, he refers to as “suckers” and “losers,” though. Donald Trump also claims he lost hundreds of friends on 9/11 and regards the first responders, next to whom he stood helping sift through the ruins of those two towers searching for injured humans, as heroes. Donald Trump is a real stand-up kind of guy.
In some ways — many even — the opening paragraph here could be a game. It could be a Mad Libs game with open spaces for words that have already been completed. It could also be a “What’s wrong with this picture?” Or, it is simply an exercise known as “find the false statement and correct them” game that is often seen in language instruction. Let me rewrite the opening paragraph in a way that is more historically accurate, and likely in a way that most readers here would recognize.
Donald Trump has great respect for the military (of nations led by murderers and terrorists). Some soldiers (the soldiers who protect the United States of America), however, he refers to as “suckers (men and women currently serving)” and “losers (the fallen soldiers),” though. Donald Trump also claims he lost hundreds of friends on 9/11 (after some digging, it turns out to be zero!) and regards the first responders, next to whom he stood helping sift through the ruins of those two towers (he claimed this but it never happened) searching for injured humans, as heroes (see below). Donald Trump is a real stand-up kind of guy (for Putin, the world’s tyrants, and himself).
U.S. presidents are neither obligated nor required to salute officers of foreign militaries, especially ones believed to have supported the largest attack ever on our nation.
A new filing in a lawsuit brought by the families of 9/11 victims against the government of Saudi Arabia alleges that al-Qaeda had significant, indeed decisive, state support for its attacks. Officials of the Saudi government, the plaintiffs’ attorneys contend, formed and operated a network inside the United States that provided crucial assistance to the first cohort of 9/11 hijackers to enter the country (New 9/11 Evidence Points to Saudi Complicity).
And what is Trump doing with new information (See above salute)?
Trump and his team of DOGE-bags are also in the process of gutting the fund that pays for health care and support for the 9/11 first responders.
The health program that serves 9/11 first responders and survivors is still hobbled by deep cuts made by the Trump administration — despite a White House vow to quickly reverse reductions it made earlier this month — advocates, officials and lawmakers said Wednesday. Dr. John Howard, director the World Trade Center Health Program, remains in bureaucratic limbo and has not been formally reinstated to his post as promised by Donald Trump’s Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in early April.
“It’s a shell game they’re playing,” said Dr. David Prezant, chief medical officer of the FDNY. “They fired a bunch of people, rehired a few of them and now many of them have been told they do not have a job.”
“They keep apologizing for their mistakes but they don’t fix them,” said Ben Chevat of Citizens for the Extension of the James Zadroga Act, a 9/11 advocacy group. “People are clearly not getting services that they need (It’s a Shell Game).”
The men and women who gave their lives at a great time of need and sorrow for our nation, many of them today sadly Trumpists, are being played with like trapped mice by an orange monster whose only concern is that he kiss up to the terrorists responsible for billions of dollars of business dealings for the Trump organization. Somehow, Republicans were never upset in the least about Jared Kushner’s receipt of $2 billion from the murderer, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Although he did attend the Pope’s funeral, Trump’s first foreign trip is not to meet with our allies to discuss world peace or to apologize for his break with reality when he started the trade war but to secure deals for his family that some estimate could be worth upward of $20 billion for the Trump organization. Can you imagine?
Cultists will see nothing wrong in any of this, just like they were unfazed last year when Trump shit all over the fallen soldiers at national cemetary in Arlington. It’s all so sick and disgusting, and today is another day when I ask two questions: What the f*** is wrong with half of our country that they think this guy was worthy of a second term, even though we saw how we treated his first term? And, what did we do as a nation to shackle ourselves to one of the least inspiring and most grotesque families ever to have called America their home?
Trump is heading to Qatar today, off to a country that has financed Hamas for years. He will surely pay great respect to the Qatar military again. The question of the gift will undoubtedly come up again. Republicans in Congress have been saying they find the idea of this gift very distasteful and likely something they won’t support, but then Lady Lindsey offered up a response that clearly paves the way for all of them to cave and let Trump get away with another crime against our country.
“Air Force One is the symbol of America,” Senator Graham told reporters Monday. “When it lands or flies, it is America flying or landing, and I want to make sure this whole thing is kosher. Time will tell (Wants to Make Sure Deal is Kosher).”
