Another Day Closer to the Election and All We Hear About Is Trump
Is Kamala Harris still running against him?
This morning, the front pages of most major newspapers in the U.S. featured three to four articles about the latest “Trump drama.” All of the articles discuss pretty much the same thing: the latest “assassination attempt,” the failure of the Secret Service, Trump “is shaken up,” and Trump is using the opportunity to draw attention to how “everyone” is determined to stop his presidency.
It took me a half hour to find an article about Kamala Harris. The article reported on how Harris had a contention meeting with Sean O’Brien at a meeting with the Teamsters. There were a couple of articles about how Trump blamed Biden and Harris for the violence against him. The Fourth Estate is failing miserably for many reasons, and the most likely one probably has to do with the simple fact that Trump’s chaos and lunacy sell a lot more ads than the smiles and love directed toward Kamala.
The moment editors across the country sensed that the novelty of Ms. Harris’s candidacy was wearing off, they redirected their pens and cameras toward Trump. Because Trump is so immensely unqualified to be president and so mentally ill, all it takes is about 30 minutes, and he will, rest assured, deliver up a whopper of crazy that can fill a day or two of news cycles. Newsrooms love him for this, and while they may think that the vice president has it all wrapped up, so “Let’s rake in the bucks while we still have him around,” what is happening is the “report on Trump by default” is coming dangerously close to inflating the perception that he is the frontrunner.
Realizing that the immigrants-eating-cats-and-dogs lunacy was attracting lots of flies, Trump, along with his own version of Joseph Goebbels, Stephen Miller, have identified another town in Pennsylvania to craft a narrative of hate and lies around.
At a rally in Tucson, Arizona, last week, Trump railed about immigrants in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, which he said had “experienced a 2,000 percent increase in the population of Haitian migrants under Kamala Harris.”
“So Pennsylvania, remember this when you have to go to vote,” Trump said.
“It’s a small town, all of a sudden they got thousands of people!” he continued. “The schools are scrambling to hire translators for the influx of students who don’t speak not a word of English, costing local taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars (Trump Targets a New Town).”
Please tell me why this story wasn’t the lead in the New York Times. I read about it in The New Republic, a reputable, if not excellent, magazine; most Americans don’t even know it exists, though. The mood the mainstream media is creating is a sense that “poor Trump” is being targeted by crazy people. Most, as we later learn, were his former or current supporters. Why aren’t reporters connecting the dots and speaking the obvious: Trump’s hateful rhetoric and calls for civil war, supported by the entirety of the Republican Party and right-wing media, are finally bearing poisonous fruit, and only they are to blame.
This is such a straightforward story to write. Yet, if you only read what the Times and the Washington Post are writing, one could almost come away with the sense that the Biden administration purposely restricts the number of Secret Services agents protecting Trump. Even more beautifully ironic is that he was in danger on a golf course — where else?! Trump spends more time on golf courses than many professional caddies, and so if anyone wants to take him out just go and hang out in the bushes for a day or two.
The media are once again ignoring the real issues, and they are letting Trump run the show and do as he pleases. Even though the moderators at the ABC debate were better at fact-checking Trump, even there, he ran roughshod over them, saying whatever he wanted, but then it worked against him. Since then, though, it has been Trump’s game, and we are all just spectators. It is like a Trump rally blew up, and the gore, stupidity, and hate are oozing across the pages of our nation’s newspapers.
I know that most of you here are in the choir, but let me share the following with you. Show this Trump answer to someone who might be either on the fence or even a hardcore MAGidiot. Ask them to explain what Trump is trying to say:
He often gives answers to even the easiest questions as if he were auditioning to be the star of some deranged carnival. Here’s but one answer of hundreds like this, he offered up about providing affordable child care last week:
Well, I would do that, and we’re sitting down — you know, I was, somebody, we had Senator Marco Rubio, and my daughter Ivanka was so impactful on that issue. It’s a very important issue. But I think when you talk about the kind of numbers that I’m talking about, that — because, look, child care is child care. It’s, couldn’t, you know, there’s something, you have to have it — in this country, you have to have it.
But when you talk about those numbers compared to the kind of numbers that I’m talking about, taxing foreign nations at levels that they’re not used to — but they’ll get used to it very quickly — and it’s nonstop them from doing business with us. But they’ll have a very substantial tax when they send product into our country.
Those numbers are so much bigger than any numbers that we’re talking about, including child care, that it’s going to take care.
We’re gonna have — I look forward to having no deficits within a fairly short period of time, coupled with the reductions that I told you about on waste and fraud and all of the other things that are going on in our country, because I have to stay with child care.
I want to stay with child care, but those numbers are small relative to the kind of economic numbers that I’m talking about, including growth, which is also headed up by the plan that I just told you about.
We’re gonna be taking in trillions of dollars, and as much as child care is talked about as being expensive, it’s, relatively speaking, not very expensive compared to the kind of numbers we’ll be taking in. We’re going to make this into an incredible country that can afford to take care of its people, and then we’ll worry about the rest of the world.
Let’s help other people, but we’re going to take care of our country first. This is about America first. It’s about Make America Great Again. We have to do it because right now we’re a failing nation, so we’ll take care of it. Thank you. Very good question. Thank you (Corporate Media Keep Hiding the Truth).
Imagine if Biden or Harris gave such an answer. The biggest, and it gets pretty testy, compliant corporate media and MAGidiots have with Kamala is that she does not provide 100-page thick position papers on how she will rebuild the world in the face of a pandemic of race hate and Republican treachery. I challenge anyone to explain what Trump was trying to say in that answer. I challenge anyone to try to even repeat it out loud.
The media is sanitizing Trump’s apparent mental failures and not challenging him on everything he says. Elon Musk amplifies Trump’s madness and dresses it up to seem normal. Within seconds, Musk reaches tens of millions of people.
We are losing the battle again, and I am not sure why they are letting this happen — again! He is f****** magician!
