Donald Trump Wants American Children to Have Fewer Toys
Oh, and by the way, they might be a 'few bucks more expensive.'

Let’s get this out of the way: This image is not Pam Bondi or a future Fox News host. Now, onto our regular programming.
When meeting with the full circus, otherwise known as his cabinet, Donald Trump told the gathered journalists that for Christmas this year American children should be happy getting “two dolls instead of 30,” and that parents need to be ready to pay more for those toys given the predicted shortages that will ensue thanks to his economic incompetence.
“You know, somebody said, ‘Oh, the shelves are going to be open,’” Trump continued, offering a hypothetical. “Well, maybe the children will have two dolls instead of 30 dolls. So maybe the two dolls will cost a couple bucks more than they would normally.”
His remarks followed a defensive morning after the Commerce Department reported that the U.S. economy shrank at an annual rate of 0.3% during the first quarter. Behind the decline was a surge in imports as companies tried to front-run the sweeping tariffs on autos, steel, aluminum and almost every country. And even positive signs of increased domestic consumption indicated that purchases might be occurring before the import taxes lead to price increases (China Will Suffer More in Trade War).
If Joe Biden had ever even whispered anything close to what Donald Trump said yesterday, American fascists led by Fox News would have been storming the Capitol Building again. Not happy with Joe Biden’s fantastic job restoring America to greatness again in the post-Trump/COVID era, Americans rejected Kamala Harris because she dared to propose carrying on with Biden’s economic program for the country.
The country’s gross domestic product — the total annual value of all the goods and services produced in the U.S. — is forecast to slow to 0.8% in the first three months of 2025, a sharp decline from 2.4% in the fourth quarter of last year, according to economists polled by financial services firm FactSet. For the year, economic growth is predicted to slow to 1.9%, versus 2.8% in 2024, FactSet data shows (Trump Promised an Economic Revival).
Donald Trump’s policies have been so unsuccessful that he is warning American families that this Christmas will not be as bountiful as past ones, thanks to the economic harakiri. His offhanded comment that those gifts will cost a few bucks more comes from a man whose abuse of his office enables him to pay nothing. Trump openly uses his position to enrich his family and their businesses. Since he took office, he has weaponized the FBI and the Department of Justice. He regularly threatens companies that the power of the U.S. government will come after them if they don’t offer him pro bono legal work and other services.
Amid all this economic chaos and cuts to programs, Trump promises to spend $100 million on a military parade to celebrate his birthday. The country has never seen anything like this in its history. We have been gutted, and the carcass of our democracy has been left on the dock to dry and rot. We all know the time to rebel has come, but what does that mean? Does it mean we take to the streets, armed with whatever we can find in our homes? Does it mean we storm the White House or Mar-a-Lago?
Donald Trump is fulfilling Vladimir Putin’s order: Destroy America and turn it into Russia. Do we want to be Russia? Having lived there for nearly three decades, I can tell you we don’t want to be Russia.
The orange Grinch is stealing our country; we can’t let him steal Christmas, too.
