Has Anyone Taken a Look at The Heritage Foundation's 'Project 2025?'
It is THE blueprint for the fascist takeover of America.
Fascism, like most “isms” that seek to limit a person’s freedom, can’t function without strict rules. Rules can’t work without bureaucracies that are not just devoted to enforcing those rules but also believe in the antidemocratic-ness of the rules. One of the saving graces in Russia for decades was that most of the bureaucracy had no big, unifying idea that pitted it against the people: Where there was a ‘will’ (a person), there was always a way to pay that person a bribe to get around the rule or law.
Russia’s astounding failure in its attempt at creating the world’s first communist state can be blamed on a lot of things, but probably not more so than the failure to establish a lasting ethos that was capable of binding generations. The lack of a clear-cut mission that could inspire the majority of citizens over the decades was missing, and in its place was a hodgepodge philosophy that called for “the workers of the world” to unite. The Soviet Union’s focus on class instead of nationality was its most impressive twist and weakest link.
Fascism, however, tends to do better because it unites a nation of people sharing similar cultural values,
and it tells them that “their kind of people” are the best. This is why so many less-than-super-bright people (some would call them dumb), racists, and over-religious people are attracted to fascism. Portugal’s fascism, from which the nation freed itself 50 years ago this week, united the people in a straightforward way: family, church, state, and the land. There were no loud, overly ambitious slogans or attempts at conquering the world.
The Republican Party in the U.S. has turned into a fascist one. Many Republicans and historically unaware people will scoff at this idea because their only understanding of fascism is the Nazi German version. If Americans don’t see concentration camps and gas chambers, then they wrongly think fascism cannot exist. This is a very naive understanding, and it is on par with how many on the right regard climate change. It snowed in Oklahoma, and a senator from that state famously took the floor in the Senate to mock the notion of “global warming.”
Adolf Hitler was notorious for staying up late, sometimes to three in the morning, and not waking up until around 11 a.m. He had no interest in running the national government and spent his days as Germany’s dictator, imagining the “glory of the German people.” Hitler would never have been successful had there not been a willing and hardworking bureaucracy in place.
In many of the same narcissistic, demagogic ways, Donald Trump is similar to Adolf Hitler. Hitler, however, was much smarter and braver — he was a decorated war veteran doing one of the most dangerous jobs — and he had a much better understanding of history and his place in it. I would even venture to say that Hitler loved the German people. He was not a person of excess and always made sure that the Germany he considered to be racially pure was taken care of.
Donald Trump is concerned with the well-being of one person, and we all know who this person is: “the Donald.” Trump’s failure as a president mainly stemmed partly from the chaos he created with his personality. The bureaucracy in place when he took over as president was not made up solely of Trumpists, and so many of the career patriots were able to either ignore the craziest of Trump’s changes or slow-walk them, which many did, and thank God. Otherwise, things would have been a lot worse than they were.
The fascists seeking to end America’s democracy realize that Trump is an excellent candidate. He is utterly ignorant of history, so there can be no blowback from Trump when they suggest he does something that is anti-democratic. He is also uninterested in learning how the government runs. Trump wants to be in power and wants the trappings of that power. He also has a large following of not-so-bright people who are more than happy to see American democracy ended.
The Heritage Foundation has put together a plan for a Trump victory that guarantees that all of the mistakes made during the first Trump presidency will be avoided. It is called “Project 2025,” and it was authored by leading conservatives going back to the Reagan administration.
As such, the authors express consensus recommendations already forged, especially along four broad fronts that will decide America’s future:
1. Restore the family as the centerpiece of American life and protect our children.
2. Dismantle the administrative state and return self-governance to the American people.
3. Defend our nation’s sovereignty, borders, and bounty against global threats.
4. Secure our God-given individual rights to live freely — what our Constitution calls “the Blessings of Liberty.” What makes these four pieces of the conservative promise so valuable to the next President is that they cut through superficial distractions and focus on the moral and foundational challenges America faces in this moment of history. This was one of the secrets of conservatives’ success in the Reagan Era, one our generation should emulate (Mandate for Leadership: Project 2025).
The way to set the nation back onto its correct moral footing for the author’s plans is to gut the federal bureaucracy of Americans not aligned with the movement’s goals. The plan’s authors are, unfortunately, historically aware, and they know that a revolution like this cannot succeed if it is violent. It has to be a passive, behind-the-scenes one that will take place 24/7 from when Trump is sworn a second time. Replacing the purged bureaucrats will be a cadre of thousands of loyal fascists.
Look at America under the ruling and cultural elite today: Inflation is ravaging family budgets, drug overdose deaths continue to escalate, and children su!er the toxic normalization of transgenderism with drag queens and pornography invading their school libraries. Overseas, a totalitarian Communist dictatorship in Beijing is engaged in a strategic, cultural, and economic Cold War against America’s interests, values, and people — all while globalist elites in Washington awaken only slowly to that growing threat. Moreover, low-income communities are drowning in addiction and government dependence. Contemporary elites have even repurposed the worst ingredients of 1970s “radical chic” to build the totalitarian cult known today as “The Great Awokening.” And now, as then, the Republican Party seems to have little understanding about what to do. Most alarming of all, the very moral foundations of our society are in peril (Mandate for Leadership: Project 2025).
The plan’s authors describe this moment as one of great moral decay caused by the infiltration of the “radical left” into the government and the nation’s culture. The 1950s seem to be the apex of American cultural greatness. It was a time when the “coloreds” knew their place, the Mexicans were still in Mexico, and the gays were cowering in closets — and women were home waiting for their men.
Project 2025 is one of the best reasons to make sure that Trump doesn’t win, but sadly, it seems too many liberals are distracted by the war in Gaza and other things. We are going to cut off our noses to spite our faces.
