As much as I tried to ignore the Trump phenomenon (plague is more like it) throughout 2023, I have a sick feeling that in the new year, it will be almost impossible to avoid writing about him and his army of basement-dwelling losers.
Polls, which I put little faith in, especially this far out from the election, actually have Trump edging out Biden. It’s all still within the hypothetical margin of error, but the simple fact that it is even this close is something that just shouldn’t be happening. Trump is such a piece of s*** and such an enemy to all that used to define our nation (take note, I am now using the past tense here and will continue to do so until the polls close next November) that his failed presidency should be a moment when all of us, including the MA-Gidiots, come together and after some awkward silence agree that we did indeed dodge a bullet with Trump.
But this is not the case at all. Trump is their Jesus. The Jesus-obsessed love to pretend that they don’t regard him in such a way, but that is nonsense. How do you support a person with so much hate in his heart? How is it possible to want a man whose only love is for himself to be the nation’s leader? How do you look up to a man who commented that if his daughter weren’t his daughter, then he would probably want to “you know” (winks)?
I have written a lot about how Russians are their own worst enemies, ever running from progress back to a dark, prejudiced world teeming with ignorance and superstition. There is now nothing that separates Russia’s Putinists, who tacitly sit by while their sons, husbands, and brothers are slaughtered in droves. Their nation is jerked violently backward by Putin’s lasso. If, and I still can’t believe I am writing this word, “if” Trump becomes president, do the rest of us offer up whimpers of protest like anti-Putin Russians, or do we rebel? Do we regard Gandhi’s words as anathema and the words of Golda Meir as Gospel?
“If the Arabs put down their weapons today, there would be no more violence. If the Jews put down their weapons today, there would be no more Israel (There Is No Moral Equivalence).”
Suppose we silently let Trump and his army of stupid take over our institutions. In that case, we know there is a strong possibility that there will never again be a fair election or a fair trial, and the Trump-loving police will feel empowered to harass anyone not aligned with this fascism. If we remain silent, there will be no America the majority of us love and regard as a “city on the hill,” as Reagan so eloquently said while proving to the world that he had a split personality (his Reaganomics destructed turned that shining city on a hill into a crack-rotting ghetto).
We are Americans, however, and not subservient, cowardly Russians. I have a feeling we will fight back, and sadly, it will be violent and ugly.
Before then, however, we must all come together, and rather than avoid the train wreck unfolding in slow-motion before us, rant, rave, and fight back. We cannot sit idly by and let the right-wing media shamelessly lie because it’s a great way to make millions in profits from advertising. We cannot let them create any more fake child prostitution rings, which unite millions of lunatics together under a banner of stupid and hate. When confronted with exaggerations and fantasy, we must be eloquent but firm.
2024 is going to be the year of Trump again! Thinking about this makes me sick to my stomach, but unfortunately, silence is not an option. We have no time for the caprice of the left that so often divides us. We have no time for the gender politics that so unites them. LGBTQ folks, if you want America to have a chance, set aside your fundamental aspirations for 2024 and help us defeat the rise of fascism.
2024 is going to be loud, ugly, and filled with a lot of lies…and way too much Trump.
Your clarion call to the silent left (your audience) must now be posted on billboards all over America. And on every "AI Companion" of those elderly home alone.
