In Interview, Putin Says The War Is Helping Young Russians
After seeing death and destruction, 'naked parties' become stupid and immature
In a recent interview, Vladimir Putin glibly talked about how the war is making “men” out of boys. He spoke about how when they return from the “special military operation,” thanks to the horrors they see fighting to protect the homeland, the idea of going to clubs and naked parties seems ridiculous.
“Like takes on new meaning,” he said almost cheerily.
This kind of rationalization is like a child abuser suggesting that his actions better prepare children for “real life.” Putin’s words are an admission that he has failed catastrophically, and while the majority of Russians don’t see this yet, deep down, they know their country is screwed. They know that Putin is a loser.
Perhaps you recall that 2024 in Russia is the “Year of the Family.” Vlad, in his New Year’s address to the Russian nation, a country “whose borders don’t ever end,” according to the advertisements now appearing around the country as Putin gears up for the unchallenged presidential race in March, promised to put the needs of the Russian family front and center.
Since he made that comment, the wives and mothers demanding their husbands be returned from the front have been arrested and harassed by Putin’s praetorian guard – the thugs dressed in black who take joy in beating women, teens, and anyone displaying vulnerability. The husbands were conscripted in September 2022. They are allowed to return home in body bags, invalids, or when the war of genocide has finally ended.
As he sat there and unraveled his new philosophy in his head, it was possible that he didn’t know where he was going with the idea. It is like the words he was speaking suddenly landed in his ears and he himself was a bit shocked by what he was hearing. He lifted his hand to his face just as he got to the heart of his callous notion. That is clearly a signal that he realizes he is overstepping a bit.
In an odd way, and in a way that he surely didn’t mean, Putin is right. The silly spontaneity of youth, which regards the notion of jumping around at a party naked as nothing more than harmless fun, has been permanently stolen from the hundreds of thousands of young men genociding Ukrainians. Putin is right that few of the men and boys returning from his war against two countries, Ukraine and Russia, will have anything left in their souls for silliness, their families, and just a moment of silent reflection.
Vladimir Putin, in an expression of his insanity and blood-thirst, launched a war that has left easily half a million dead with the promise of many more. He plays to ignorance and hate, like his student Donald Trump does, and neither Russia nor Ukraine nor the rest of the world will ever be the same after this latest act of Russophobia committed by yet another Russian ruler against his own people.
While I would like to suggest that Putin’s existence on this Earth challenges the notion that a divine being guides us, I won’t fault God because I know how collectively cowardly the Russian nation is when it comes to standing up for their rights — “Oh, I don’t know. I’m okay. Let someone else do it. I just want a cup of tea.”
