Is Now the Time for a Military Coup?
Trump's team is already preparing for the launch of Project 25
Many won’t agree with me, but I think at this moment in history, I would be okay with a military action preventing Donald Trump from taking the oath of office on January 20th. Many will say, “But the American people have spoken and they chose fascism.”
Hear me out.
The American people have no clue what they chose. The overwhelming majority of Trump supporters are so ridiculously misinformed — or uninformed — that one could posit that if they truly knew what he was going to do, many might not have voted for him. The majority believed Trump when he said that he knew nothing about Project 25. Yesterday, advisors close to Trump
Sure enough, less than 24 hours after the election was called for Trump, his allies, advisers, and prominent supporters were celebrating the now-open road to Project 2025’s implementation.
On Wednesday, former Trump adviser Steve Bannon — who just weeks ago completed a four-month prison sentence on a contempt of Congress conviction — lauded Christian Nationalist Matt Walsh, a commentator at The Daily Wire, on his War Room broadcast.
Walsh had written on X, formerly Twitter: “Now that the election is over I think we can finally say that yeah actually Project 2025 is the agenda. Lol”
“Matt Walsh, I think, is a very smart and funny guy,” Bannon said. “Put that everywhere,” he added, with instructions to his staff to promote the post on his social media.
Right-wing podcast Benny Johnson also gloated about the project. “It is my honor to inform you all that Project 2025 was real the whole time,” he wrote (Republicans Can’t Wait for Project 25).
Trump has started hinting at who is closest advisors will be, and if they are approved — which seems to be a done deal given that he will have full control of Congress — none of his cabinet will be expected to put the interests of the country before his interests. The Constitution will quickly become as relevant as instructions for a Commodore 64 computer, becoming a forgotten anachronism by a government of corrupt traitors loyal to one man. Thanks to the immunity granted to Trump by SCOTUS over the summer, all the pieces for America’s first dictatorship are in place. The question we need to seriously ask is when do the first arrests of political opponents begin?
Hundreds of officers as well as National Security professionals have expressed that Trump is a “clear and present” danger to our democracy. Just because he won on Tuesday, doesn’t suddenly mitigate this threat. It is actually more real than ever before. We have to ask: if the right is so unbothered by the coup they have pulled off, then why should we be prevented from defending our nation by using force to derail their coup before they take power.
I don’t doubt that the authors of Project 25 who came out yesterday to celebrate its imminent launch have been reprimanded by Trump and people close to him. Steve Bannon is smart enough to know that if they reveal their cards too soon, there could be some kind of backlash before control of the government has been regained. We will likely see a watering down of the rhetoric, and promises to launch Project 25, to keep Trump’s supporters focused on “the economy and lowering prices (remember, many are expecting this to happen from day one).” Even MAGidiots, if they begin to believe Project 25 is real and they were duped, could rebel against their orange cult leader.
There are a lot of generals and officers, talented men and women, who might be willing to save our country. After all, if they don’t act then many of them could end up being some of first political prisoners in the “United States of Trump.”
We entered uncharted waters when SCOTUS freed Trump from consequences. Those waters became turbulent when he won on Tuesday. Are we really expected to watch the ship sink if we know how to plug the hole?
