It Took Trump Only Two Weeks to Bring the Country to Its Knees

Putin and other shitheads have the green light to do as they wish - where, when, and how.

China is loving it. For each completely unhinged comment that escapes the mouth of the dementia-ill Trump against Panama, the closer Panama pulls to China to serve as a counterbalance against what now looks like the Putin-esque United States. The threats to take over Panama, Canada, and Greenland by Trump, which began in shortly after he won the election, are no longer worthy of simply headshaking disbelief. It’s time something is done about Donald Trump before he starts World War III.

The United States is again weak. The chaos created by a dictator-wannabe was all conjecture in the run-up to the election. Two weeks into Trump 2.0, we know he is not joking. The groundwork is being laid like pipes beneath our national community in rapid order. Once in place, Trump plans to “turn on the spicket,” like he claims he did in California, and the seeds of fascism that he planted will grow all across our land in a bounty the United States has never seen before; but unlike the oranges and other produce rotting on the limbs of overladen trees, the rightwing propaganda machine will harvest these fruits and an army of loyalists occupying the federal bureaucracy.

If you think this saber-rattling will have no consequences, then you are wrong. Like the tiniest pebble being tossed into a placid lake, small waves will nonetheless flit across the lake’s surface and disturb what had just moments before been a tranquil scene. Each call by Trump for Panama’s canal, Canada, to become the 51st state and for Greenland to become U.S. territory creates larger and more disruptive waves.

Trump’s noise is distracting the world’s powers, and so they stop focusing on the threat of China, the genocide of Russia, and the evil Iran and other vile governments and instead focus on the potential for irrational behavior from the United States of America. Maintaining a relatively peaceful international order is not easy, and maintaining order, which in this case means countries have to manage Trump’s lunacy, comes at a cost to peace and order in other areas.

The Hamas attack on Israel and the resulting destruction of Gaza was caused by the empowerment Trump gave Netanyahu. Had a more moderate leader been in charge in Israel, maybe the Hamas attack could have been avoided. Trump’s behavior permits others to act in extreme and volatile ways, ultimately creating waves that wash ashore, destroying everything in their path.

As the U.S. proves to be more aggressive toward the interests of its allies, threatening them with not just economic warfare but outright invasion, China proves that despite its push for economic dominance of the world, it is a more peaceful and reliable partner. It’s hard to fathom how we let our country sink to this level, but then again not really. Many of you who read me regularly probably know my feelings about Fox News. But I will repeat it: The creation of the alternative reality by the right-wing news machine, especially Fox, is primarily responsible for where we are today.

Ronald Reagan’s rhetoric identified the edge. Newt Gingrich’s chaos and endless battles against Bill Clinton nudged the nation toward the edge. The stolen election of 2000 and the resulting attack on the U.S. on 9/11 put us on the precipice. As the nation teetered, Fox News created the narrative that anything doubting the righteousness of Republican reactionary politics was anti-American and needed to be eradicated. The economic collapse of 2008, the subsequent election of Barack Obama, and then Mitch McConnell’s gauntlet against Obama gave Fox News and the right-wing machine all the fuel it would need to lead us to Donald Trump.

And here we are.

As America’s democracy wanes and the country shifts hopelessly into a pre-dictatorship, we are on the brink of empowering an FBI director who has publically promised he will his office to persecute innocent Americans to prove that a ludicrous conspiracy, which has been disproved 1000s of times, is actually true. The next phase of our fall will empower Russia, China, Iran, North Korea, and all of the other shameless shitheads around the world.

It took only two weeks, and the country is becoming as broken and sad as Atlantic City. Just because we have nuclear weapons does not make us a strong country. Shame on anyone who voted for this Russian agent. Shame anyone who is too stupid not to see how bad this will end for us.
