'Judge Not, That Ye Be Not Judged'
If only Republican Christians really loved Jesus, our country would be so much better off.
The Nazarene hippie clearly got a bad rap in life. Harassed relentlessly by Roman dummies and brutes (every era has its dummies), Jesus thought that getting hung on that cross would end it all for Him. Sadly, it didn’t. Mary and Joseph’s little boy, who had a voracious appetite for His mom’s homemade humous, has been one of the most tortured souls for the past 2000-plus years.
Throughout this long history, all sorts of undesirables and deplorables have claimed to have special relationships with Jesus. The Catholic Church, for centuries, has used its “in” with him to wreck marriages and lives by enforcing morality laws onto its flock while simultaneously raping, killing, and at times even looking the other way when regimes committed genocide. As for the Catholic Church, though, it has made efforts to reform itself, and the current pope, Francis, has been a revolutionary figure — although many priests are refusing to enforce his changes.
Jesus was an “active” participant in the January 6th insurrection in Washington. Floating above the crowd of the “gullibles” and fascists on that day were countless Jesus blow-ups and posters, a few even looked like Pepe the Pig from a distance. I was watching live on CNN from Russia, and I couldn’t understand the significance of Pepe’s role. It was Jesus.
Many Republicans regard their fascist politics to be inspired by the words of the Bible. My wife, who is Russian, does not fully understand the blinding hypocrisy of modern-day Christians. We are watching the Netflix show Young Sheldon (spoiler alert), and she became confused when the church pastor, where Sheldon’s mother was the secretary, was asked to leave the church because his teenage son was having a baby out of wedlock. She innocently said, “Well, that’s not very Christian,” which led to me pausing the show and going off on a rant.
The rest of the church members began to shun the family in the show. During the service, no one would sit next to Sheldon and his mom — which I hope is a Hollywood exaggeration, but I fear it isn’t — and then the sermon was about “loving thy neighbor the way Jesus would.” Jesus would never have cared about laws made up by a man that required a baby to be in wedlock.
Think of the way that God-fearing Christians treat children whose only sin is that they prefer to love someone of their own sex, which leads often to irreparable psychological harm, suicide, abandonment from their families, and even substance abuse. The child Nex, who was gender non-conforming, recently died in an Oklahoma high school after being jumped by kids who “didn’t like the way they laughed.” The school was guilty of not appropriately responding to the bullying of Nex because, “you know, she was a heathen anyway, and maybe the peer pressure could straighten her out.”
Look at the eyes of this child. How could anyone hate them? How could anyone beat them up for being different? Good Christians can, though, and these are the people voting for Donald Trump — who currently leads Joe Biden in most polls. What have we become, and where are the sane among us?
The Christians who are okay with Nex’s death, the ones who think guns and Jesus are the same, will vote for Donald Trump. There are a lot of these vile and stupid hypocrites among us. But there are more of us. Nonetheless, there are a lot of dummies among us, too. Let’s make sure Biden doesn’t win because of Gaza — a war Biden didn’t start, and one Israel would have waged with our support or without it. Do they really think Trump will be better for Palestine?
Most modern Christians are fascists. Most are ignorant of American and world history. We cannot let them win in November. It seems Trump will win the White House, and Republicans will take the Senate. Does the House flip? For as useless as the Republicans have been, you would think yes, but remember this: The Christians love the MAGidiots.
"Nex" started the fight. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
