Only He Can Save America
Trump's 'law and order' message is based on breaking the law and creating chaos.
Russia just finished its premier economic forum in St. Petersburg, The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). As I wrote last week, it used to showcase how Russia transformed its economy and became a key player in an interconnected world economy. Today, despite all the “Wow, look at how good we are doing overcoming your sanctions,” the spectacle is sad and embarrassing.
The Kremlin used the forum to showcase Russia’s commitment to “traditional and family values” by ponying out some loser foreigners who “found themselves” in Putin’s Russia. Russia also publicly began aligning itself with the Taliban in Afghanistan, receiving an official delegation from the country. More than of the sessions at the economic forum focused on overcoming the degradation of the West’s “gay policies and destruction of the traditional family.”
As wild as this sounds, yesterday, throughout most of Europe, right parties made substantial gains, which would have seemed impossible ten years ago. In the way that The Great Depression set the table for a “peaceful” Nazi takeover of the Weimar government in Germany, so too the policies put in place to stop the spread of COVID turned many against left and centrist ruling parties — thanks, China!
Fascism is on the rise, and if you say it isn’t, then you are one of the following things: a Foxified Trumpist, paralyzed by political correctness and afraid to call a spade a spade, clueless as hell, or just not interested in anything that doesn’t concern you. If there are three of these four, then there is a good chance you might be considering voting for Donald Trump or a third-party candidate. Before you do that, however, you should know a few things.
The first thing is that Donald Trump doesn’t give a rat’s ass about you or the wellbeing of your family. At a dangerously hot rally in the mid-day sun in Las Vegas, Trump whined to the crowd that the Secret Service and his campaign aides were overconcerned about protecting the health of the rally attendees and were less focused on whether he was cool or not.
Earlier in his speech, he said the campaign would offer help to people who were feeling tired and joked that “everybody,” including the U.S. Secret Service, was worried about the safety of the crowds and not about him.
“They never mentioned me. I’m up here sweating like a dog,” he said. “This is hard work (I Don’t Care About You).”
As some of the attendees began to faint from the heat Trump wants to increase with his policies that would kill all of President Biden’s green initiatives, Trump let the cat out of the bag on his feelings for the assembled mass of dopey people.
“I don’t want anybody going on me. We need every voter. I don’t care about you. I just want your vote,” he said, adding that he was joking (I Don’t Care About You).
It was 100 degrees when Trump made that really funny joke. I am sure many in the crowd were slapping their knees and grabbing their jiggly bellies over that one. One 65-year-old woman who looked like she was about to keel over told a reporter that it would have been better had it been inside, but “I am so thankful I finally got a chance to see him in person.” What childhood trauma led this woman to have such little respect for herself?
The cult of personality is a powerful thing, though, and similar to the way it created the perception that Hitler was Germany’s savior, so too for the not-so-bright Trumpists, Trump is the only one who can save America. Hitler repeatedly said as he prepared to seize power, “I alone can save you.” Trump, too, has made this very same comment at his rallies, telling the gathered cultists that “if he isn’t chosen to be the president, then the country ‘we love’ will be destroyed, and the radical left will enslave you.”
Hitler’s wrath was focused on “international Jewry,” and Trump’s on the “radical left.” Trump’s radical right movement aligns him with Putin, Marie Le Pen in France, and other right-wing lunatics pushing a 1950s version of family values while actually showing no concern or care for families. Trump openly expresses his lack of concern for Americans and their families by making them stand in 100-degree heat or by telling them not to wear masks during a pandemic. Putin sends hundreds of thousands of men and boys to die in a war no one asked for.
“I alone can save you” from transgender people, from “gay Europe,” from the “raping immigrants.” It’s a dark and ugly world to which the MAGidiots and Trumpists strive, and I am not sure where the opposition is. Too many liberals are sitting around passively waiting for the end to come. Trump is not hiding what he plans to do. As right forces rise in Europe and Putin exercises control over most of the Russian nation, 2025 does not promise to be a stellar year for humankind. It promises to be a breaking point in the evolution of humanity.
Before a tsunami happens, the tide goes way out. In the 2004 Thailand tsunami, beachgoers were amazed at how the water seemed to vanish. As far as the eye could see out from the shore, there was no water, and then suddenly, the wave came racing in and destroyed everything. This is the moment we are in. We can move away from the shore and take precautions or stand here patiently waiting for the wave to wash us away.
Please, everyone, get out there and sell the need to preserve our democracy. This may be our last chance before it all becomes too late.
