Polls in Key Swing States Show Trump Leading Biden

If America re-elects him, we deserve all of the bad that comes with that decision

The idea that Donald Trump could be re-elected for a second term to the White House is not something a relatively sane mind can deal with. It is like trying to imagine what existed in the Universe before the Big Bang happened — the human brain aches when trying to conceive that notion of absolute nothingness.

This is how my brain feels when I imagine that there might be enough ignorant and insane living among us who think that Donald Trump deserves another chance. Nothing that Donald Trump did during his presidency was good. 80 percent of the bad that we have today in our lives, both in our country and the world, is thanks to the vacuum of governance and power created by the chaos of Trump. 

The new polling from The New York Times and Siena College found Mr. Biden losing in one-on-one matchups with former President Donald J. Trump in five critical swing states: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada and Pennsylvania. Mr. Biden is ahead by two percentage points in Wisconsin (Democrats Express Deep Anxiety).

The poll is a year out from the next presidential election. There is still a lot of time for Biden to turn things around. There is less time for Biden to anoint a successor. Joe Biden has been an incredible president. Not only did he have to take over the presidency while COVID was still ravaging the nation and world, but he had to take over the country after the sickness of Trumpism.

Donald Trump’s presidency weakened our nation and empowered the world’s dictators. Trump’s fascist tendencies gave the racist and the stupid in our country a voice they never had before. The ill effects of their enfranchisement are still being felt, and most of those dummies are the ones saying they would happily re-elect Trump.

But, a random poll done by phone could not have called only Trumpists and the MAGA sick. The poll conducted shows that enough people among us who are just so out of touch with reality that they think Trump had somehow been effective. The respondents answered that Trump would be more effective on the economy and foreign affairs, among other things. 

There is hope 

Let’s face it, people are not so much as stupid as they are clueless. Respondents, including even Democrats, who they would choose Trump over Biden, have not been “campaigned” to yet by the Biden people. All most Americans hear are the concerted efforts by Republicans in Congress and the entirety of right-wing media: Biden is bad, Trump is good. When you are a politically inactive person whose views are shaped by commercials and the news on TV, you will lean toward accepting that “television view.”

Political consultants like David Axelrod, who orchestrated the Obama victories, desperately want Biden to step aside but also admit that most likely he won’t. Their advice, then, is to begin framing the narrative now: What does a second term for Trump mean for America? Americans, who, as we see, are incredibly gullible and not too politically swift, need to hear this narrative. They need to have someone paint the picture for them.

Remember, it was not long ago when most of us were wiping our brows and saying things like, “Well, finally, that nightmare is over.” Are we so irrational now that we will willfully go back to the scene of the crime? And, America electing Trump was criminal.

Donna Brazile, a former chair of the Democratic National Committee and a supporter of Mr. Biden, said, “don’t count out Joe Biden” on ABC’s “This Week” program. But she added that Democrats should be mindful of the polling from The Times.

“I would say a wake-up call once again for Democrats to be reminded that they have to go back out there, pull the coalition that allowed Joe Biden to break new ground in 2020, especially in Arizona and Georgia, but more importantly to bring back that coalition,” she said. “Without that coalition, it’s going to be a very, very difficult race (Democrats Express Deep Anxiety).”

Joe Biden has been busy governing. He has been busy leading the NATO alliance to oppose Russia’s fascist revolution. Joe Biden has returned pride to our nation. Joe Biden has taken out the garbage and is still busy sweeping up the mess created by Trump. He doesn’t have the luxury of campaigning and doing nothing like the Republicans and Trump. When he turns the re-election machine on, things will fall into place.
