Republicans Are Super-Duper Confident in the Worthiness of Their Platform
But just in case, they are testing new strategies in swing states to block election results.

It’s a transformation that’s hard to believe. The party that once championed personal responsibility and rugged individualism has now become the sore-loser-participation-trophy party. At its helm is one of the whiniest losers, whose talent at inventing excuses for his ineptitude is fantastically epic. The claim that the 2020 election was stolen from the man-baby is one of history’s greatest frauds, a stark example of the party’s hypocrisy.
The 2024 election will be an exercise in futility in many states because, regardless of how Americans really vote, if the results don’t come back with a win for Trump, then Republicans plan to block those results.
When a member of Georgia’s Fulton County Board of Registration and Elections refused to join her colleagues as they certified two primaries this year, she claimed she had been denied her right to examine a long list of election records for signs of fraud or other issues.
Now the board member, Julie Adams, an avowed believer in the false theory that the 2020 election was stolen from former president Donald Trump, is suing the board, hoping a judge will affirm that right and potentially empower others in similar positions elsewhere to hold up the outcome of elections (Trump Allies Test New Strategy).
I am going to ask it, even though it does not need to be asked: How is it possible that these people, our neighbors, fellow parishioners, and just citizens, actually believe Donald Trump despite all that has been revealed about him? While this question is rhetorical in many respects, it is also the kind of question that I imagine many Germans in 1933 were asking each other as they sat around their dinner tables and watched the torch-lit parades pass in the streets below their windows. The shouts of “Heil Hitler” and the hatred unleashed on the Germans of all walks of life must have left many then, as it does many of us today, incredulous — how can this be happening?
I look to the comments on YouTube to gauge where people are concerning the upcoming election, and I see “Vote Blue!” everywhere. I read the exact words of incredulity that keep me awake at night. The comment that scares me the most is the one where people say things like, “Come on, there is no way he is going to win. He is a felon, a rapist, and his presidency was a trainwreck.” While I agree with those sentiments, that kind of overconfidence killed the cat and Hillary Clinton’s presidency. Step away from the silo, and credible polls show us stuff like people in swing states think Trump is better suited to protect American democracy.
You ask, how is this possible? (Remember, this article started off talking about how Republicans are “developing new strategies” to block election results all in the name of Trump.) Easy. Fox News and Republican-led school boards have devastated the intellectual capacity of a substantial minority of Americans.
Fox News, even though it went cold on Trump for a few years post-January 6th, has always been against calling that day anything but a gathering of patriots whose party was upset by Antifa. That dull hum in the background by right-wing media and Trump’s own non-stop whining ground down millions of Americans to the point where they don’t remember what happened but consider Trump to be genuinely persecuted.
Certification of local results is a key target in this effort, a once-mundane administrative step that has become a flash point in the debate over election security — and a potential opportunity to subvert the will of voters. Election officials in the nation’s 3,000-plus counties must sign off on results, followed by a similar process at the state level. Typically, certification does not mean there were no errors — it simply reflects the votes tallied at that point. And it does not preclude lawsuits contesting those results; in fact, in some states lawsuits cannot be filed until after certification is complete.
Since 2020, county-level election officials in five key battleground states — Georgia, Arizona, Michigan, Nevada and Pennsylvania — have tried to block the certification of vote tallies in both primaries and general elections. So far, none of the efforts have succeeded. In some cases, the actions came up against strict state rules limiting the role of county election boards in determining electoral outcomes, and critics say those rules will serve as essential guardrails this fall to thwart any coordinated efforts to set aside a state’s popular vote (Trump Allies Test New Strategy).
The National Republican Party is not bothering with the nuances of messages. It is not seeking power to make the country great and solve the nation’s problems. It is coming to power never to lose power again, and it is therefore pumping crazy money into its efforts to challenge the election results if they don’t go their way. The goal is to disenfranchise Democratic voters not because they cheated but because they are Democratic voters.
This whole effort has been made much easier thanks to Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito — the two most far-right justices on the Supreme Court. Joining them now in their treachery is Neil Gorsuch. The hope by Republicans is that their lawsuit will go to the Supreme Court and the “gang of three” long with two more justices will win the day for fascism. Amy Coney Barrett is proving to be a wild card for their coup.
Kathy Boockvar, Pennsylvania’s secretary of state during the 2020 election, said she’s less concerned about these election challenges successfully altering the outcome, as long as the courts dispense with them quickly, than she is about the “human impact” of sowing doubt in the validity of the results.
“I worry a lot about the disinformation that, no matter how this plays out, is going to be rampant,” she said. “It’s so much easier to spread disinformation than it is to explain all the ways that the incorrect information is wrong. Combined with this very angry, stressed environment that we’re living in right now, it’s such a fraught time to be having a major election in (Trump Allies Test New Strategy).”
Trumplicans don’t care about America. It’s all about gaining power and never losing it. It’s all about dumbing people down, scaring them, and playing to race and gender hate. It’s all about fascism. History is filled with countries that suffered the disease of fascism. Not one of them went on to greatness, and all of them eventually failed.
Vote Blue.
