Setting Aside the Rhetoric and Extreme Dislike, What Does 'MAGA' Stand For?
To you and me, they are Christo-fascists and traitors to America, let's politely ask for answers to the following questions.
The rules of our fun little, late-July Sunday game are simple: No deflections, specious claims of being taken out of context, disingenuous denials, or whataboutisms. The answer cannot be a recognizable Trumpian slogan, invented name, or fact-less truth.
Many MAGidiots consider themselves to be holier than those of us who don’t regard Trump as the second coming of Christ. They regard us as traitors to America even though everything their movement stands for aligns more with what Vladimir Putin envisions for Russia’s future.
Let’s begin
Ask your local MAGidiots, whether a brother, a spouse, a sibling, or just one of the loudmouths at the local breakfast nook in your town, to explain some of the points below. It won’t be possible to hit them with all of them, but you might be able to corner them on one of these topics. Prepare yourself for what undoubtedly sounds like intellectual waterboarding as they trip over themselves trying to answer.
The inexplainable admiration for the world’s worst authoritarians (Putin, Xi Jinping, Kim Jong Un, Viktor Orban, Bolsonaro, Duterte);
The notion that childless adults do not deserve a “full voice” when it comes to voting;
The off-the-wall misogyny;
The constant lying that exposes their outright contempt for their fellow citizens and honest leadership;
The moral hypocrisy of engaging in adultery, false witness, and stealing even while accusing others of criminality. Add to this that many of the main MAGA heroes have been found guilty by courts of law, and some even served prison sentences.
The concept that some Americans are actually above the law and should not be held to account simply because of positions they held in Trump’s administration;
Openly declaring a willingness to abandon long-standing geopolitical alliances only empowers our enemies. Russia was emboldened and empowered thanks to the chaos and big mouth of Trump — remember when he shared top-secret information with the Russian ambassador in the Oval Office?
They advocate for many of the goals outlined in Project 2025 while lying about their connection to that document and complaining despite loads of proof that both Trump and Vance are buddies with the blueprint’s authors.
The idea that declaring a desire to be dictator for the U.S.A. — even for just one day — is in any way imaginable acceptable or even remotely patriotic.
While this list is not exhaustive, if you can get a MAGidiot to calmly, even “thoughtfully” (oxymoron?) offer answers for any of these topics, then you might be able to get to them the short-lived realization that they are out of their f****** minds when they talk about Trump as being the savior for America.
Good luck.
Vote Blue.
The concept that some Americans are actually above the law and should not be held to account simply because of positions they hold in Trump's administration;
They believe in the existence of the deep state and see the charges against Trump as purely political payback.
I was talking to a client last week. He essentially voiced this as a fact. "But Gary, Trump has always lied, cheated, and committed fraud in running his business. And now he'spaying the price."
"Well they all do that!" (Meaning successful businespeople.)
Hang on, Gary. You're a businessman. Do *you* do that?"
I'm not sure, but I think that opened his eyes.
