The 'Leftish' Media Has Lost Any Sense of Proportion Regarding Trump and Biden
Trump has NOT 'found Jesus,' and Biden's dropping out of the race is NOT a 'political disaster!'
Sorrow-filled. Political disaster. Anti-democratic. Elite.
Unified. Reborn. A new party. Inclusionary.
In freshman year English at Freehold Township High School, there was a moment that still sits in my brain with a bright freshness and relevance like it happened last week: My teacher, Mr. Donovan, in his haphazard, always kind of confused way, handed out our vocabulary words and as he approached me he used me and the word “hyperbole” in a sentence.
When challenged to explain what the word meant, I gave up immediately. Always in a good mood, Mr. Donovan let the words spill upon like a well of truth — a fountain of intellectual youth, even.
“An exaggeration used for effect not meant to be taken literally.” Those were the exact words he used on that day in October 1981. They echo to this day through my brain, and I don’t know why.
I loved that word. I have been in love with words ever since, and despite another English teacher a year later calling me “barely literate” (Ms. Segal), I have been writing ever since. I didn’t become a famous writer, which I blame on spending 28 years in an alternate reality when I lived in Russia, but maybe one day, something I wrote (write) will prove to be better than the garbage now being churned out regularly in most media. While we can expect lies and propaganda from the right to be flowing hard and fast, I am finding the narrative being pushed by the so-called left media tiresome.
Above are some of the words journalists repeatedly use to explain President Biden’s decision to step down. The words are clearly exaggerations and in no way, in my opinion, express the reality of the situation. As much as I love Joe and wanted him to go on and win re-election, there are a slew of reasons I don’t think he could beat Trump going forward — one of those reasons is undoubtedly the less-than-stellar performance at the debate.
Take note, I am not calling his debate performance “disastrous,” “sad,” or “a nightmare.” Biden had a very bad night, although he answered most of the questions in the kind of detail Trump could never have. The media hasn’t shut up since that day, and almost every article that discusses Biden and his age begins with 30 words about his “disastrous” debate performance. Get over it already! The first paragraph of most articles is when most people are paying attention. So, by beating readers over the head with negativity, they begin to create the sense that a Trump victory is inevitable.
In my opinion, the chance that Biden may pass the torch is one of the best things that could happen to the Democratic Party in years. In the first place, it completely reenergizes the party. It also demonstrates a commitment not just to party, as we saw at the RNC, but a commitment to the nation — to saving our democracy. The positives of Biden stepping down far outweigh the negatives, yet no newspapers have begun reporting on this. The mood you get when you go to most liberal media is a pending sense of doom.
The New York Times, to keep the mood dark, ever came out with an article today hinting that Biden might not back Kamala Harris for president in the case he steps aside. What kind of journalism is that? Why don’t they write about how Biden could join forces with RFK Jr. and run independently if forced to step aside? The desired effect is that as we begin to near a decision that could help us beat Trump, the Times has to rock the boat of doubt some more to cut further into our ability to sleep soundly — something I have not done in a long while.
Trump makes a lot of money for the media. His haters are glued to anything Trump. We are searching for clues of his demise. We want to hear more proof that he is the devil, and each time a new scandal pops up, we read more feverishly convinced that this time, he will be washed away to be forgotten. It never happens. He seems to come out of each near-miss stronger than before. The only true enemy of Trump, which the media seems less inclined to report on, is Trump himself. If Biden sometimes struggles to be the Joe Biden from 40 years ago, Trump is always rambling incoherently on for hours about the craziest shit, and no one seems to be highlighting his lunacy.
Biden put forth solutions for Americans, which the media take joy in reporting on when the courts overturn his executive orders, and Trump makes Foxified, racist cultists giggle when he tells stories about Hanibal Lector or calls “laughing” Kamala Harris crazy but not as crazy as Nancy Pelosi. If there ever was a “fix,” as Trump loves to say, it is in, and it is against Biden and a sane, democratic America. As good as the journalists the Times, the Post, and other liberal beacons are, many should be ashamed of the voice their newspapers project to the world about the “political disaster” democrats are facing.
This is a historical moment for many reasons, and in my view, all of them are good. The Democratic Party can come out of a retiring Biden moment more unified, energized, and ready to kick ass for America. The RNC was a sad joke and highlighted that the Republican Party is dead. Nonetheless, a lot of people who voted for Biden last time are considering Trump this time because they think he is better for things like the economy and even on defense. A more articulate candidate can highlight Biden’s successes and assault Trump’sfailures. Trump amnesia is real, but if we all remind people of the chaos we endured 24/7 for four years, forced to process every single bizarre thought Trump had, then maybe we can still win this thing in November — despite our own weak-assed, liberal treachery.
Great read, Brian. So now Joe has decided against running for the 2024 nomination. The media coverage of his possible replacements will be widely reported and the Democratic Party will respond with renewed interest. So will the independent voters. And of course, nearly every woman in America.
This departure by our current president comes at a very opportune time. The convention will be bursting with the energy of our youths’ passion for the economy, environment, and equality.
When school resumes in September, voters will begin in earnest to evaluate the two selected candidates, trump and whomever our Democratic Party nominates. We will only have nine weeks to reach our conclusions before voting.
With fingers crossed, I am once again hopeful today.
