Today Is Women's Day in Russia
The mothers of sons killed in the war were given meat grinders by the government.
One of the main strategies of Russia’s genociding and raping army is a tactic called the “meat grinder.” Incompetent and usually drunk by early-evening officers of the Russian military, send thousands of Russian men daily into what are called “meat grinders.” Some clever and heartless PR person in the Kremlin decided that to bring the fallen sons closer to their mothers, the mothers would receive on March 8th a utensil that every kitchen needs and every homemaker needs: Tens of thousands of meat grinders were distributed to the grieving mothers during the week preceeding the holiday.
Let me explain if you don’t know what a “meat grinder” in war is. Imagine a building standing at a crossroads. Inside the building, there are 10 heavily armed defenders. With five machine guns, tens of thousands of rounds of ammunition, and scores of grenades, the defenders are positioned in a way that makes it almost impossible to dislodge them.
Sitting miles back from the front and probably enjoying the services of a young, local prostitute, a drunken Russian officer — the heroes of modern Russia and now MAGA — gives the command for the “lousy, good-for-nothing” front-line troops to undertake a frontal assault against the fixed position. He issues a command by screaming hysterically into the radio: “Do it, or I will execute you!” The other officers hoot and holler to offer this “tough guy” support.
50 soldiers are randomly picked and ordered to move on the building. Bitching and moaning, the men move out. Almost instantly, they begin to fall. One by one, they are shredded by bullets, but some get close enough that grenades blow them apart. Another wave sets off, but this time, it is 200 men. The fighting is fierce, but the results are the same. The attackers are halted, and some even find it challenging to move over the terrain because of the dead bodies and strewn body parts. Wave after wave continues over the next few days; the results are always the same. Thousands lie dead and dismembered.
Eventually, the dozen defenders slip off under cover or into darkness. The Russians eventually take the house, only to learn that the officer in charge has decided to attack in a different direction. The house is abandoned. This is what Russia does and is historically known for, but thanks to the lack of critical analysis, and the awarding of medals not to heroes for merit but shitheads for political alignment, the Russian army notoriously makes the same mistakes over and over. This is precisely what Trump is doing with the U.S. and the military by putting the Fox News weekend anchor in charge and purging generals and JAG officers. When mistakes happen now, it will be blamed on Biden, LGBTQ, and minorities (DEI).
Most Russians now understand the description of a “meat grinder.” They know that it means thousands of their sons, husbands, and brothers were killed in “meat grinder” attacks and that many of the deaths were caused by incompetence.
March 8th in Russia, regardless of the snowy weather, is usually a day when the hopes and aspirations of the imminent Spring thaw instill a certain giddiness in many. Over the years, I recall that on this day in St. Petersburg, despite the bitter cold, there was always an underlying veil-like mist that hung over the city. The anxious anticipation of dinners gathered around tables laden with salads, meat, vodka, champagne, and sweets put everyone in a good mood — a rarity for Russia. Shouts of “Happy Holiday” to strangers for one day made Russia quaint, as if the whole country of 11 time zones had been reduced to a village of a few dozen people.
Today, the weather in many places is similar, if not a little warmer, and the crunch of the cottony snow underfoot sounds no different than years past — years when I was scurrying to and fro, buying the beautiful bouquets of bright yellow “mimosa” flowers.
There is a big difference, though, from years past — from even last year. This year, the Russian government, freed from being regarded as a pariah and criminally responsible for the horrors it has inflicted on Ukraine thanks to being considered as a necessary and vital ally of Trump’s America, has decided to show to the world and most importantly to its own people what a sadistic, despicable government it really is.
Instead of the mothers of Russia and Ukraine using their meat grinders to make pelmeni for this cherished holiday, they are setting their shiny new meat grinders up onto tables next to photos of their dead sons and recalling their last moments through tears and sorrowful moans.
This Russia is now America’s new friend and ally. Remember that.
