Donald Trump is getting his way again. He has commanded the Republicans in Congress to “shut it down,” and they are listening to him as if a failure to fulfill his commands could damn them to the fire depths of hell for eternity. Sadly, it is their obedience that is now condemning Ukrainians to hell.
To begin with, let’s put it out there: Shame you, you worthless cowards!
Last night, Vladimir Putin gave an “interview” to Tucker Carlson. To be more accurate, it was less of an interview and more of a meeting of two desperate losers seeking to use each other for credibility purposes. Putin felt good because Russia’s beloved Tucker had come to hear his side of the story, and Tucker felt good because he figured the meeting would make him relevant again. For a brief moment, Putin got what he wanted and Tucker what he needed.
Noticeable to the world was Putin’s arrogance. He was genuinely signaling that he felt like a corner had been turned, and around the bend was a better and happier reality for Russia. Putin’s desire to have an interview was because he sensed an end is near. Donald Trump has forbidden the Republicans in Congress from doing anything that could resemble governance. From now until the election, Republicans will do less than usual — which is traditionally nothing.
Trump wants no action on the border, and so nothing will happen. Despite the fact that everyone involved, except House and now Senate Republicans like Leslie Graham, has come out to praise the bipartisan border agreement. The union representing 18,000 border agents said that the proposed bill is one of the best government efforts in the past 40 years to resolve the border issue.
The National Border Patrol Council — which represents more than 18,000 agents — said the bill would “drop illegal border crossings nationwide and will allow our agents to get back to detecting and apprehending those who want to cross our border illegally and evade apprehension.”
It’s a significant statement of support from a group that endorsed former President Donald Trump in 2020 and has repeatedly railed against President Joe Biden’s handling of the border.
“While not perfect, the Border Act of 2024 is a step in the right direction and is far better than the current status quo,” Brandon Judd, president of the council, said in the statement. “This is why the National Border Patrol Council endorses this bill and hopes for its quick passage (As Conservatives Balk).”
Trump wants nothing to happen. Nothing will happen, and the problem will fester. Trump proposes to get Mexico to pay for the bill — remember how that worked out the first time?
The city of Kharkiv, as viewed in the image above, was hit multiple times the other day by North Korean missiles. Russia has no shortage of ammunition. Ukraine, thanks to the refusal by Republicans to support their heroic effort to protect all of us from the evil of fascist Russia, is facing not just shortages of ammunition but, overall, the whole war effort is being sapped of energy.
Putin’s interview was the Kremlin’s effort to laugh in our faces and to remind us that victory will be his not because the Russian army is capable of defeating Ukraine but because Putin has Trump in his pocket — and Trump has the entirety of the Republican Party in his.
Trump 2.0 is worse than Trump 1.0, and this is just the beginning of the chaos. If Americans prove to be so stupid as to elect Trump for a second term, then may we all go to hell on the road paved by our collective ignorance.
