Trump Meets With Hungary's Mini-Putin and Receives 'Authoritarian Playbook'
Biden fights for working Americans, and Trump aspires to become America's first dictator.
Donald Trump’s response to Joe Biden’s energetic, pro-America State of the Union speech was to host Europe’s mini-Putin, Hungary’s prime minister Victor Orban, at his lair in Mar-a-Lago.
The Central-European authoritarian leader has done all he can to support Moscow’s war of genocide, and so that makes him an obvious choice for whom Trump should meet as the run to November 5th kicks off. The toad-like, intellectually unremarkable autocrat has traveled to Trump’s “fantasy island” to share with the narcissist his own special little playbook on how to shut down domestic opposition through the demonization of citizens with opposing positions.
As Trump’s former press secretary, Stephanie Grisham, hinted on CNN, Trump is no longer concerned with creating rifts between our allies because he has already succeeded. The orange menace now wants a plan to crush domestic opposition legally. Who better than Viktor Orban knows better than this?
Orban, a weak and irrelevant little bully outside of Hungary, was left slightly aroused by Trump’s “peace through strength” rhetoric that unfolded at a rally of the inbred in Mississippi recently. Trump and his followers, when at their silliest after the effects of the gasoline high, have kicked in, really see a “strong president” who is feared by our nation’s enemies. The image of brutish killers with chewed-up and eternally swollen knuckles emitting uncontrollable whimpers at the thought of a second coming of Trump is an unquestioned truth for MAGidiots. “America is so weak because of Biden,” they ignorantly screech.
Orban played to that lunacy in the way that only wily autocrats know how to manipulate and manage useful idiots.
The Hungarian leader cuts a lonely figure in the EU as he openly supports Trump, a skeptic of the US’s transatlantic alliances, for a second term in the White House. The prevailing view in the rest of the bloc is that Trump would be unpredictable and difficult to deal with and increase security risks in Europe if he forced Ukraine into a ceasefire with Russia on Moscow’s terms. “The only serious chance for peace now is if he’s able to come back — that’s my only hope,” Orbán said of Trump last week. “Otherwise, the war between Ukraine and Russia will be long, getting closer and closer to Hungary and creating more and more strong dilemmas for European politics (Trump Meets Orban at Mar-a-Lago).”
While the competing images should be enough to push Biden for good into a winning position among independents and some of the Nikki Haley Republicans, unfortunately, even so-called politically informed Americans are often frighteningly clueless, after his outstanding State of the Union speech, Joe Biden, riding the wave of energy and goodwill, met with Pennsylvania workers, promising to continue the fight for them. Trump dined with a man who thinks Putin is the world’s best statesman and a political genius.
Orban singlehandedly held up aid for Ukraine to both get as much as he could for himself and to give the bungling Russian army a respite from the Ukrainian onslaught. Orban and Trump are classmates in the school of Putin, and the simple fact that an ex-president and the current nominee for the Republican Party finds it so important to his political future to meet with a known autocrat and Putin sycophant should sound alarm bells, cowbells, and dinner bells across our fine land — but for roughly 40 percent of our nation, it will mean nothing.
Let’s hope the remaining 60 percent, including even some currently planning on voting for Trump in November, sit down for a spell and consider what Trump’s meeting yesterday means for not just our democracy but freedom everywhere.
The similarities between Orban and Trump are truly remarkable. For a more detailed analysis, please check this link. I am sure Putin was smiling—maybe even present via Zoom—at yesterday’s meeting.
How could this upcoming election even be a contest with such a clown like Trump in this thing, folks? I just don’t know.
