Trump Says His Re-Election Will Be 'Judgement Day' for Anyone Who Opposed Him
With plans to fill federal bureaucracy with 20,000 political appointees, Republican voters applaud.
Adolf Hitler was always surprised that no one ever stopped him. In his book, Mein Kampf (My Struggle), he told the world exactly what he planned to do. Donald Trump, yesterday at a C-PAC speech, told his followers precisely how he will end American democracy.
After failing in his insurrection to overthrow the German government, Hitler served some time in prison, more like a holiday retreat, wrote his book, and then lied, ranted, and raved for the next eight years, enticing millions of extremist followers (his people) to join him. Hitler was democratically elected in 1933. Hiter liked to joke that “they chose what would happen next.” He found it comical that so many acted with such surprise at how quickly and precisely he ended German democracy and turned the nation into a dictatorship.
One of Hitler’s first acts was to fabricate a crisis with the burning down of the Reichstag, which was blamed on a Jewish communist. Declaring a state of emergency, Hitler disbanded the German parliament and removed thousands of federal workers from the bureaucracy, replacing them with Nazi Party members who had sworn oaths of loyalty to him. Donald Trump is proposing the same thing and is not trying to hide it. He is bragging about it.
Trump’s plans for his first few weeks in office have been widely reported. The former President has pledged to his supporters that he will revive Schedule F, allowing him to remove thousands of federal workers and replace them with pro-Trump allies. Trump already has large groups of activists working to lead the way.
The Government Executive reported that former White House staff who were closely aligned with the former President have been compiling lists of around 50,000 current agency staff who could face losing their jobs if Trump were to achieve his goals (Trump Issues Further Retribution Warnings).
People who regularly vote Republican and those who consider themselves libertarian have little or no understanding of a simple concept known as “opportunity cost.” They don’t understand that if you remove people whose life-long profession has been the administration of government and replace them with people whose sole qualification is that they are racists or Christian fascists, then doom the country for generations.
In a recent discussion with a friend who considers himself libertarian, he made a comment that shocked me. “Trump was president only for four years and now is gone. He didn’t wreck the system.” The rapid blinking of my eyes at the naivete of such a statement almost caused sparks to fly. Then, he says he is shocked that serious talk about a possible Trump victory exists. “Trump’s a lunatic,” he admits. “There is no way he will be elected.” In the next breath, he admits he no longer follows politics.
While I understand that we are all busy with our lives and it is simply not possible to stop everything and wage a war against Trumpism, too many of us are utterly clueless as to how close the United States is to becoming the next “fallen” empire in the history books. Many will say we have already fallen, but technically, no. We are in the throes of the collapse, and either we counter Trump’s fascist revolution, or we naively imagine — pretend, maybe — that Trumpism isn’t real and either don’t vote or waste a vote for someone like Jill Stein or other third-party candidates.
Or, as in Michigan, we protest against Biden by not voting at all. That protest “not to vote” brought us Trump in 2016. The upcoming election is not a joke; this is not a screenplay for a Hollywood movie. The words spoken in public and which were met with cheers and approval by the powers that be in the Republican Party were not a joke. If Trump wins, the mistakes of the first term will be eliminated.
What stopped the fascist impulses of Trump the first time was the responsibility that minor and some major actors in the Trump administration and the federal bureaucracy felt for protecting the Constitution. Republican dummies call this the “deep state.” The “deep state” subverted Trump’s revolution, they rant, and so those traitors must be removed — and they will be, and the U.S. government as we know it will collapse. That chaos will give Putin, Xi Jinping, and many other leaders wanting to commit atrocities a big green light to reorder the world. A fascist America will eventually lead the world into a world war.
The cry of the dangerously stupid, “Drain the swamp,” is something the fascist traitors will demand. Trump’s people, taking full advantage of Trump’s chronic lack of interest in governing — remember, no president spent more time on the golf course and in front of the TV than Trump — will make sure that the second time everything gets done.
When everything gets “done,” everything else will come undone.
November 2024 will be remembered as the Fall of the Roman Empire is remembered. The Great Retribution will begin immediately.
