Trump's America Cannot Be Shocked By Abhorrent Behavior Anymore
MAGA has been so desensitized to his extremes that Musk's Hitler salute is now just a funny meme.
If there were one word with which to describe bro culture that has coalesced around Trump, I would probably settle on “edgy.” The overriding need to be edginess, whether it is sincere or not, gives the impression that bros “just don’t care” about a whole lot. Nothing is sacred in their world; there is no topic that is considered taboo for them to discuss. The more shocking they are when discussing things, the more “bro-y” their approach is.
MAGA is now full on bro, in the way that supporters of the Communists in Bolshevik Russia were “comrades.” And, as they say in bro culture, “We are allcooked.”
Because of their efforts to always be “on the edge” in their assessment of the world around them, they often come off as racist, misogynistic, or just plain rude. However, in “bro-dom,” it is mandatory to scoff at such criticisms by saying, “I was joking, bro, chill. I meant no harm.” This is why no one — and I mean no one on the right — is upset about Musk’s apparent Hitler salute
Since I began studying the behavior, and the cultural norms of bros in the run-up to the election, I have come to believe that many bros don’t mean any harm because they simply don’t give a shit about much at all. They aren’t intellectually curious enough to learn about anything independent of the topics that make it into the bro echo chamber.
Everything exists to be made fun of. Everything is a potential meme that can be shared. Any weakness or human failing is the perfect opportunity for a “good laugh.” This is why prank videos where someone is getting playfully abused are so hysterical in bro culture and yet often so offensive to others — and to most liberals. Bros especially love it when a prank goes awry, and the prankster himself gets hurt. The fact that maybe someone was physically injured or perhaps even died is not a reason that a good laugh wasn’t had.
“That bro is cooked, yo,” meaning the prankster is dead. Giggles ensue. The horrific history that Musk’s salute symbolizes offends no one in bro culture for myriad reasons. First of all, all that they know about the horrors of World War II was learned in games like Call of Duty; and secondly, as I stated already, they just don’t care that six million people were genocided because, “Bro, it happened so long ago. Get over it.” This is why when various reporters and podcasters tried to get some reaction out of MAGidiots about how abhorrent Musk’s behavior was, not a single one expressed anything but love for Musk, and even a few cried “fake news” even after viewing Musk’s salute.
As I have delved into the bro culture by following their online world — 90 percent of bro-dom is realized online — I appreciated that because of the endemic irreverence for everything, nothing means anything. A bro is just out to have a good time, and if they can make some money doing it, then why not? If the means result in an end where money is earned, then the questionable morality of the route to get there means nothing at all.
Elon Musk is the wealthiest person in the world, so he is a great person because of that. Donald Trump, in their twisted world, is a great businessman, and so if you are offended by his comments, then you are against business and probably a vile socialist. This is how the cultists rationalize, and this is why neither President Musk nor VP Trump can ever offend them.
Unfortunately, so much of what the extreme left finds so vitally important to the country — gender politics, pronouns, Gaza — acts like a never-ending energy source for the irreverent meme culture. Until the left figures out that 80 percent of Americans don’t consider gender politics and pronouns the most pressing issues, we won’t be able to open the eyes of enough of the cultists to the putridness of Donald Trump.
It’s time we, too, dumb it down and start using anti-cult memes to lure them back, folks. Let’s have some fun with their stupidity.
Your description is right on target.
