Why Is Corporate Media Calling It a 'Trade War'?!
It's not a 'trade war' but the perfect example of doing the same thing and expecting different results!
Every few days, the talking heads on the corporate media networks breathlessly discuss the latest salvo in “President Trump’s trade war.” Sitting on what everyone knows is the most “powerful” couch in the world, in front of a couple of plasma TVs, Trump smacks his thumbs noisily against the glass of his phone, issuing another insane threat about tariffs, and like chariots of fire, the words slide across the bottom of the screen.
“An enraged President Trump ups the ante in the trade war, threatening 50% tariffs on the European Union. The world gasps as the strategist and Deal-maker-in-Chief forces the world’s largest economies to work according to his rules or lose the American market.”
It’s heady stuff, and for a sad, cowardly, ignorant POS like Donald Trump, it’s the kind of adoration that makes him feel manly, reminding him that below the spare tire that has become his waist, there is still something hanging there that made him anatomically a man. The thing is, Donald Trump is not waging a trade war. He is not some genius military or business strategist fantastically pulling rabbit after rabbit out of the old silk hat. He is a clueless grifter wily enough to understand that each time he creates market instability and chaos, he and his chosen few can earn billions when he calls off the tariffs. Only Trump knows whether or not he will cancel the threat, so only he knows best when to buy or sell.
All of this rhetorical garbage we see in the corporate, or legacy, media only serves one purpose: To make Trump feel glorious and all-powerful. I have asked this question repeatedly, which is usually posed rhetorically, but why does the corporate media feel compelled to normalize him? Why is it so necessary to give in to the snowflakes on the right and act like everything Trump does is heroic and serving the sole purpose of saving the United States?
Will it kill these so-called journalists, these cowards, really, to call this what it is? Pure and unadulterated insanity. The machinations and manipulations of the world’s market by one of the greatest thieves ever elected to public office? With each threat of “escalating the trade war,” Trump proves himself to be more and more like Keyser Soze from the movie The Usual Suspects. “The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn’t ever exist.” This quote from the film, spoken by Kevin Spacey, sums up the power of Donald Trump.
He is not a warlord. He is not a brave man. He is not a general. There are zero redeeming qualities in him. He is sick, diabolical, and deserves to be rotting in prison. And yet, somehow, and quite magically, the more grotesque and insane he acts, the more they accept his behavior as being normal. Each time the media calls this tariff bullshit another salvo in the great trade war, they are lifting Trump up higher on their shoulders for all the world to see and marvel.
I hear you! But who else? Come stand on the steps of Congress and shout at the top of your lungs, please. I'll join you with my last breath. It'll feel gooood
